The Georgia Council of Public Libraries is a non-profit organization founded in 1975 to provide legislative advocacy, continuing education, and to promote the best interests of public libraries throughout the state of Georgia.

Georgia Council monitors legislation that may impact funding or services of public libraries and  negotiates group pricing with various vendors to take advantage of  economies of scale, allowing member libraries of any size discounts traditionally available only to libraries with substantial material budgets.  Georgia Council also provides continuing education on topics of interest to its members.
